It was a deliberation period for three months as what sort of procedure to be adopted in conducting the remaining examinations of classes X and XII under CBSE programme. Finally, a conclusion has been made by the Union Government and CBSE by cancelling the remaining exams of classes X and XII. The students and teachers, sitting on pins and needles, risking about teacher-student contacts during examinations, have been made to travel on a clear path.
While the Supreme Court welcomed the move, the performance in the final examinations will give weightage and results to the unattended exams.
The average of the best performed papers will play a key role in assessing the cancelled exams.
The subject Business Studies was the clear opportunity for scoring which was in line with the views of the students in the state of Tamil Nadu. Students were anticipating the assessment of the exams not conducted would be based on internal assessment of other exams written in the whole academic year.
The students, not sure of the outcome, have already gone ahead in preparing for the competitive examinations which would pave way for further studies on their expected lines.
The students have also felt that studying for the balance exams and competitive exams simultaneously will hinder their concentration on both.
The CBSE based on their assessment would organise an optional exam in place of cancelled exams at a time when the situation warrants to do so. The students would not have opted for this as the subjects/exams considered for engineering admission, have been written by them as per the views of a Director of group school. He also suggested to the Board to show some moderations as the students were already under stress amid COVID-19 pandemic.
